title: 2015: Operation conflicts with current state | API Docs
description: The resource is in a state that conflicts with the requested operation.
---

**HTTP status:** `409`.

The resource is in a state that conflicts with the requested operation. This is an HTTP 409 error. Common causes include editing or reacting to a message that has been deleted, or mutating a chat that is in a transitional state.

On `POST /v3/messages` without `from`, this error means there was no eligible sending line: none of your assigned phone numbers can currently send.

## Troubleshooting

- Refresh the resource before retrying (e.g., re-fetch the chat or message)
- If you are racing a delete or status change, wait for the relevant webhook before retrying
- For `POST /v3/messages` with no eligible sending line, review your numbers’ reputation in the [Linq dashboard](https://dashboard.linqapp.com/) under **Analytics → Fleet Status**, and contact support with the `trace_id` if a number should be eligible
